WATCH: Extremist fighters of the Islamic State let one reporter behind their doors

Banner Icon VICE News reporter Medyan Dairieh spent three weeks in the Islamic State, receiving unique access to the group in Iraq and Syria.

In this episode, part one, Dairieh visits the frontline in Raqqa, the newly established capital of the Caliphate, where IS fighters are laying siege to Syria’s Army division 17 base.

“I say to America that the Islamic Caliphate has been established. And we will not stop. Don’t be cowards and attack us with drones. Instead send your soldiers, the ones we humiliated in Iraq. We will humiliate them, everywhere, God willing, and we will raise the flag of Allah in the White House,” says one IS fighter.

At a meeting in the Al-Fordos mosque in Raqqa, top-down demands were put on those who came to listen.

“Your leader (Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi) is a descendant of Hussein and the tribe of the prophet. We ought to love the family of the prophet, you have to support him by paying your money, sacrificing your life, and anything you can do. In the name of God the merciful we swear allegiance.”

The message seemed to resonate with the younger crowds, on 11-year-old boy from Aleppo said, “I came today to swear allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi al-Qurashi.”

He was followed by another who wanted to "join the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and kill with them because they kill infidels and apostates.”
