Two Libyan NTC fighters killed in push on Sirte

Two NTC fighters were killed on Saturday, medics said, as the new Libyan regime's forces pressed ahead in their assault on Moamer Kadhafi's hometown of Sirte after a four-day lull.

Medic Fatih Danini at a makeshift field hospital in a mosque west of the city reported two dead and more than 20 wounded as a stream of ambulances bearing wounded fighters returned from the front line, an AFP reporter said.

Wounded National Transitional Council fighter Ali Mohammed Wada, hit in the arm by shrapnel, reported a major firefight inside Sirte with Kadhafi's forces, who were using rocket-propelled grenades and hand grenades.

"They tried to close the gates and we went deep inside the city," Wada told AFP.
