Tunisian salafists clash with police

Clashes broke out between radical Islamists and police on Sunday in a Tunis suburb where Salafist movement Ansar al-Sharia told supporters to meet for their banned annual congress, an AFP journalist reported.

Hundreds of Salafists erected barricades in the streets of Ettadhamen, a poor neighbourhood of western Tunis, and hurled rocks at police, who responded by firing tear gas.
