Russia says "mistake" to exclude Iran at Syria talks

Russia on Thursday said it was a mistake to exclude Iran from weekend talks in Geneva on the crisis in Syria, accusing the United States of "double standards" on the issue.

"Iran is an influential player in this situation and to leave it out of the Geneva meeting, I believe, is a mistake," Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, adding Washington's opposition to Tehran attending was an example of "double standards".
