Israeli soldier severely hurt on Gaza border

A Palestinian was killed and four others wounded on Tuesday during an Israeli air raid on northern Gaza Strip, said a spokesman for the Hamas health ministry.

The spokesman said the dead man was aged 25 and that one of the injured was in a serious condition.

An Israeli army spokesman said airforce attacked a group of Palestinians who were about to fire rockets into southern Israel.

"More than six rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip in three hours," the spokesman said.

The air raid came hours after an Israeli army officer on patrol along the border with the Gaza Strip was wounded by a bomb, in an attack claimed by a leftist Palestinian group.
