Britain recognises Syrian opposition

Britain has decided to recognise Syria's newly formed opposition coalition as the sole representative of the Syrian people, Foreign Secretary William Hague said on Tuesday.

Hague, who met leaders of the Syrian National Coalition in London on Friday, said in a statement to parliament that he had asked the group to appoint a political representative to Britain.
