Gissou Nia

Gissou is an expert on human rights issues in Iran and international law. She currently serves as the Deputy Director of the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, based in New York City. Ms. Nia previously served as Executive Director of the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center (IHRDC) during 2011-2014. Under her leadership, IHRDC produced comprehensive human rights reports and documentation on political prisoners, women, ethnic and religious minorities, and other marginalized groups. Gissou also lectures and publishes widely on human rights developments in Iran, as well as the rule of law in post-conflict and transitional societies. Her work has been profiled by NPR, CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, Forbes and other major media outlets.
