What's cooking in Qatar?

I get it - it's winter in Doha and there's a sand storm, but for a Viking-wannabe like me this is amazing! I have finally thawed from earlier this week’s visits to Oslo, Stockholm and freezing Athens. There were a few redeeming features to Athens - Acropolis and the Aubergine to mention just two.

My first 24hours in Qatar have been truly inspiring, and brace yourselves for some namedropping… I met the enthusiastic CEO Bilal Randeree of Qatar’s biggest classifieds portal Qatarliving.com; I was treated to team lunch (yes – Babaganoush!) and productive conversations with QF and the team at WISE (World Innovation Summit for Education); a 10minute power meeting with the Qatar Development Bank; I was blown away by the passionate Mo Farid (see pic) and we’ll do magic together in Feb; and I ended the day with the dedicated Swedish Ambassador Ewa Polano. All of the above are committed to promoting entrepreneurship and seem to like our informal no BS style of doing events. To conclude – I’m feeling upbeat about #YMEstartup Doha!

Confession of mistakes; If you finally get a taxi don’t let him/her go! The reason I had a 10minute power meeting with QDB was because I rocked up 1,5h late as I couldn’t find a ride. How to remedy: Careem! Yes Magnus I love your service and the driver couldn’t stop talking about how great Careem was as an employer! Hats off
